Yellowstone National Park
In early July, I was a lucky girl to have some free time that Christopher and I took full advantage of .. by doing a camping trip to beautiful (and magical) Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming .. (and some parts of Montana!). We decided to do the long drive over two days there and two days back (with three days in the park). What an amazing drive, what a truly amazing place. The United States is so incredibly beautiful and photogenic .. and what amazes me most is how much variety there is from state to state. Seriously. From lush forests to giant deserts, the photo opportunities are endless. So many farms, so many animals, so many scenic little towns. I loved everything about our drive there and back and I feel so very lucky to have had this opportunity.
We spent most of the time sightseeing and returning to the campsite at night for dinner and a restful sleep, before doing it all over again :) We even made it to the little town of Jackson, WY .. a truly picturesque, old town surrounded by wild animals, gorgeous scenery and of course, the Rockies! It was a unique experience seeing the Rockies on the United States side but also made us somehow feel closer to home (a hard feat when you’re 2000km away ;) .. My absolute favourite part of the entire trip though was seeing endless masses of wild animals .. bison (so many bison!!!), deer, elk and even bears. Not a lot of bears but you definitely knew when one was around (the traffic jam was pretty insane, sometimes you’d be stopped for at least 30 minutes because people would be so excited to see bears, they’d stop their cards in the middle of the road and completely block traffic until the rangers got involved). Pretty crazy experience actually, especially when we have so many bears in BC!
I honestly couldn’t say enough good things about Yellowstone and I would go back in a heartbeat .. :)
