This is a what a photographer’s trip down nostalgia lane looks like ….

I  suppose I have been missing Romania a lot lately because I started looking through many gorgeous photos I have taken there on my last trip and I thought it time for a blog post dedicated to my birthplace. While I love photographing everything wedding and people-related and I am ridiculously lucky to be a Vancouver wedding photographer and surround myself with love each and every single day, I also have a huge passion for travel photography and capturing cultures, traditions and customs that are different than those that I regularly immerse myself with. I think Romania is such an example for me. I love Canada and everything it has given me over the last twenty plus years but the soft spot I have for Romania and its beauty, its people … will never go away. While I was quite young when I left, the memories and customs remained ingrained in me .. and I soak up every opportunity I have to go back. It’s funny, every time I think about Romania and the things that I miss, it’s always the simple things .. I guess in some way, I miss all the things that aren’t in my day to day life here .. the abundance of farms and simple living, chickens and ducks and geese roaming free, waiting for cows and sheep to cross the roads (let’s face it, they kind of own the roads), real home-made food, endless hills and horses and mountains and fruit trees, folk music, beautiful architecture hundreds of years old, immersing myself in history, growing the food we eat and eating the food we grow, seasons acting like real seasons, Fedoras as a way of life, pure water fresh from the earth, ruins, ruins and more ruins and on and on and on … Ahhh, I think I’m definitely due for a trip, maybe this is the reason for the nostalgia .. either way, whatever the reason, I hope you enjoy my memories of a beautiful country full of charm and warmth and a simple joy of life unparalleled in many of my travels. This is my Romania.
